FreeTextbooks moves into new office in Avondale after four years in Innovation Depot

Birmingham tech startup FreeTextbooks has “graduated” from the Innovation Depot after four years.

The company has moved its headquarters into a 20,000-square-foot office and warehouse hybrid in Avondale at 3636 7th Ave. N.

The company works by hiring student representatives on college campuses who buy and sell textbooks using the FreeTextbooks app. Over the past four years, the company has grown from 100 students on 20 campuses to more than 1,000 students on 90 campuses, spanning from California to Connecticut.

A year ago the startup moved its inventory and operations to a 9,000-square-foot space in Ensley while the corporate team worked out of the Depot. With the move, all the employees work in Avondale.

The Birmingham company has 15 employees in Birmingham and five remote employees. It’s growing that team, and job openings are posted here.
