How it will be made in Alabama: Airbus A320 production, from start to finish

MOBILE, Alabama — What will Airbus A320 production on the aviation giant’s final assembly line at Mobile Brookley Aeroplex  look like?

A video from Airbus paints a picture of how the A320 family of aircraft produced in Alabama could come together in the company’s new $600 million facility beginning in 2015.

In the video, an A320 family jetliner is assembled on one of the company’s three existing final assembly lines for single-aisle Airbus jetliners. The video shows components arriving at the manufacturing facility, where the fuselage is assembled, the wings and tail are attached, and the engines mounted.

The A320 family is now produced in Europe on lines in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany, as well as in Tianjin, China. The first customer delivery of an Alabama-made jet will take place at Brookley in 2016, Airbus said when it announced plans to open its first U.S. production facility.
