Gulf Coast Procurement Opportunities Conference & Matchmaker

The Gulf Coast Procurement Opportunities Conference & Matchmaker on Feb. 25 & 26, 2014, is your chance to learn about doing business with the government and talk one-on-one with buyers from government agencies and prime contractors.

The two-day event will be at the Mobile Marriott, 3101 Airport Blvd., and will feature workshops on Feb. 25 and a procurement matchmaker on Feb. 26.  It is being sponsored by the USA Small Business Development Center, the Florida SBDC at the University of West Florida, and the South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center, with support from the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and the SBA’s Alabama District Office.

The Marriott has set aside a block of rooms at a group rate of $109 if reserved by Feb. 19.

The workshops will be on SBA certifications, DBE certification with the Department of Transportation, and Doing Business with the GSA.  There is no charge to attend the workshops, which will be repeated in the afternoon.

The matchmaker is a reverse trade fair organized like speed dating and gives small-business owners the opportunity to market their products and services one-on-one to government agencies and prime contractors.  The cost to participate is $50, which includes lunch.

To register for the workshops and/or the matchmaker and schedule appointments with buyers, go to http://www.southalabama.edu/sbdc/procconference.html

Participating buyers will be from Alabama Department of Transportation, Alabama Division of Purchasing, Alabama Power Company, Alabama State Port Authority, Austal USA, Eglin Air Force Base, GSA, Hurlburt Field, Ingalls Shipbuilding, Missile Defense Agency, Mobile Area Water & Sewer Service, Roy Anderson Corp., The Wave Transit System, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and University of South Alabama Purchasing Department.
