Birmingham to host qualifying round of startup event

Another source of potential funding for local startup companies and entrepreneurs will be coming to Birmingham in April.

36/86 Southern Series is a pitch competition in Nashville created by Launch Tennessee, and in partnership with Innovation Depot and Harbert Venture Partners, will be looking for companies in Birmingham to compete in a qualifying round for the finals this summer.

On April 6 at Iron City, up to four Birmingham companies will receive a $1,000 travel stipend to compete in the finals for $50,000 in funding and additional investor opportunities.

Startup applicants must be located in the South, have raised less than $5 million in equity, have one pilot customer or user, and be a tech-focused business within areas like big data, consumer products, digital media, E-Commerce, among others.
