BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — The Birmingham City Council’s annual neighborhood and small business development summit begins Friday, featuring dozens of speakers and work sessions.
The free event is at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Complex, east exhibition halls two and three. The event is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday evening and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. No registration is required and doors open an hour early both days.
“In order to stimulate the local economy we must provide valuable resources and economic development opportunities,” said Councilwoman Lashunda Scales, chairwoman of the Economic Development Committee and conference coordinator. “As the leadership of the largest city in the state of Alabama, it is our responsibility to empower entrepreneurs.”
