HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – The founder of Geeks and Nerds (GaN) Corporation in Huntsville took home a top leadership award Thursday night during the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County’s Small Business Awards at the Von Braun Center.
Jonn Kim, chief executive officer of GaN, received the Russell G. Brown Executive Leadership Award two years after his company was named the technology small business of the year by the Chamber. J. Brent Romine, of nou Systems, and Sheila Cummings with Cummings Aerospace were runners-up for the award.
Sponsored by Redstone Federal Credit Union, the 29th-annual disco-themed event included hundreds of area business leaders sporting bellbottoms, platform shoes, leisure suits and big hair. The ceremony was hosted by emcees Darin Windham and Tim Knox.
A panel of CPAs determined the winners without knowledge of the names of the nominees after an extensive nomination process. Here were the other Small Business Awards winners:
