BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Alabama Launchpad, the startup business competition managed by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, has narrowed the field of 27 contenders in its second contest of the year to 10.
The 10 startups, including six based in metro Birmingham, will present business plans and make pitch presentations before a panel of judges on July 12. Winners, who will get a share of $100,000 in prize money, will be chosen on Sept. 26 at the Alabama Launchpad Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference at the Wynfrey Hotel.
This is the first year the organization has run back-to-back contests for the pre-seed round, and it chose to do so because of the large number of applicants, said Greg Sheek, Launchpad programs director.
